The first is the river Stour in north Dorset, and the second is the seashore at Osmington on the Dorset coast. I visited Osmington so frequently over the last three years that some of the locals began to know me as The Osmington Girl. I was back there today.
Both places offer a degree of seclusion and quiet, but there are enough visitors to each spot to set them apart from the wilds and to add interest.
